The total of near 400 closures would be 45 percent of the toy retailer's total number of stores.
Toys 'R' Us also reversed plans to offer severance packages to all affected employees, The Wall Street Journal reported.
The locations of the 200 stores were not available.
Toys 'R' Us, which filed for bankruptcy last fall, announced on Jan. 24 it planned on closing the 182 outlets, according to a court filing.
A shift by customers to online shopping and increased competition led to the move, the Wayne, New Jersey-based company said.
